In which defender reveals he's been socrates

“This should be a B for all my readers.”

i clearly haven’t been reading your page for long enough because it felt like i got at least one A from this. the research and work going on in this community is so interesting, i love it.

yeah it's somewhat "aspirational"! This SHOULD be a B, I don't know if it is, so I'm writing this for brand new readers, and for old readers to make sure we're on the same page (especially because it's taken ME a long time to see clearly what it is that I am doing on here)

Thank you for confirming!!

I think you can see info hazards and other people hurt by it.

if you've gone thru an infor hazard and have stepped out the other side, for example.

Oh, yes!

I rewrote that section many times. It's my "A ceiling" so it's fuzzy. But it was in response to a bunch of people on twitter (can't find the thread but they were like, smart people working at big AI labs) were arguing that they were skeptical of the concept

And I was thinking about how can people not see it (and my answer was, the selection bias of surviving it)

I think part of it is that, if you "come out the other end", you're still kind of ostracized (people naturally, and correctly, want to avoid people who had a delusional/psychotic phase, what if it comes back? What if you get infected). Weird people give off bad vibes, because we lack discernment to know if they are weird good, or weird bad. And the safe option is to assume weird bad and avoid them. And let the brave pioneers of the open mind lab dive in, report back

hmm

I think there's some good theory of mind that can handle this.

remember, these AI ppl have been in super selective environments for a loooong time, often their whole life.

not many have family and friends, or contact with the masses. (say, normies in the ME, or SA)

You're a nobody. Quit your delusional roleplay of being of any sort of relevance. You are not, you internet nobody, you irrelevant Substack/twitter user number 10 million-something. Your writing is also poor, forgettable. Get a real job, one that pays non-imaginary money.

nice, it's working!!

(the open feedback thing I mean. The lack of counter points here was concerning. I hope you will stick around long enough to drill this concept into defender's brain. One does not seem to be enough to trigger the desired change. Will keep you updated)

you take the internet to have a significance it does not merit.

Defender's avatar

this was accurate yes. We're gradient descenting onto the correct answer here (I assume you believe its significance isn't zero as I do)
